Artist In Residence at The Convent
I am very excited to announce that I am now officially the first ever Artist In Residence at The Convent. It's nestled in South Woodchester, between Stroud and Nailsworth, in Gloucestershire.
It's an astonishing place to be living and working. Not only is it the best venue in the country, but it's also a lovely hotel and restaurant with beautiful grounds to explore. I cannot recommend it enough. Take a look at their gig list and come and see something here. Alternatively, every gig is broadcast online so you can watch a gig in full HD from the comfort of your living room!
Watch this space to see what I'll be doing here. In the mean time, sign up to their mailing list at www.theconvent.net and watch my FaceBook and Twitter pages for updates.

I just won Musician Of The Year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2015!! I'm still a little overwhelmed by the whole experience, but it was an incredible night and it's an enormous honour to have such an award to my name.
My brand new band Leveret has recorded an album! We did the whole thing live in a day in a beautiful setting in the Brecon Beacons. Mixing it next week. In the mean time, we have some gigs coming up in December. We going to Northampton, London, New Mills, Abingdon Pewsey and Shrewsbury. For more information and tickets visit www.leveretband.com
So with less than a month to go until the Made In The Great War starts, we are busy promoting the show up and down the country. We have done sessions for In Tune on BBC Radio 3, and The Mark Radcliffe Show on Radio 2. Here is a link to a feature I did for The World Service on News Hour. It's a lovely piece and really sums up the show. Tell your friends! Tickets are still available for the show at www.madeinthegreatwar.com
MADE IN THE GREAT WAR - SEPTEMBER 2014
I'm very excited to announce a new project that I'll be touring this September. It's called Made In The Great War and it's the story of my fiddle that took over 90 years to make. Carved in 1915 and finally finished in 2007, the show follows the life of the fiddle and its luthier, Richard Howard, and how I came to be the first person ever to play the violin. Telling the story will be the amazing Hugh Lupton, and providing the music for the show will be Paul Sartin, Rob Harbron and me.
To find out about the show, just visit the website. The tour starts on September 3rd and runs for twenty dates nationwide. Book your tickets now and spread the word. See you in September!
Amazing news… I have been nominated for Best Musician at the BBC Folk Awards 2014. I couldn't be more chuffed to be up for it for the second year running. Following the success of my solo gig back in October, I will be doing a few more! I will be doing a spot at Bristol Folk Festival on May 5th-6th. I am also organising a few small, intimate chapel concerts in the new year, so keep a look out for those. I will put up any more solo gig dates here.
Tonight is my first solo gig in ten years! It's at Cecil Sharp House, London, and I'll be playing a 45 minute set of my favourite tunes - some you may be familiar with, and some you won't be... Rua Macmillan is also playing - he is ace, check him out!
Well, the new Hannah & Sam album is pretty much finished. Only a couple of things left to do... Any suggestions for a title would be welcome! I also managed to accidentally/on purpose acquire a Hardanger Fiddle the other day. Watch this space!
Hannah and I have been in the studio for three days now. Six tracks are down, six to go.
New website launched! Welcome to my newly designed site.
Hannah and I have just finished a week's tour. It was fantastic, especially the final gig in Glossop, which was a sell out, and a brilliant audience. Thanks to Sara Kirkham and everyone at Goblins In The Ginnel!
Lots of dates are coming in for the Autumn so keep an eye out for a gig near you.
Tonight I played a gig with Andy Cutting at Kings Place, London. We played some material from Andy's album and some trad material too. It was an amazing experience! Thanks to everyone for coming. Here is a link to a video taken on the night.
